We finally have a specific release date for Batman: Arkham Trilogy for the Nintendo Switch, which Warner Bros. Games first mentioned back in June. On October 13th, the Switch will receive the collection of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight, along with all three games’ expansions.
Ports of the famous series were handled by Turn Me Up Games, which also helped bring It Takes Two and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 to the Switch. The opening film of the trilogy, Batman: Arkham Asylum, was an origin story that pitted the Caped Crusader against some of his deadliest adversaries. In addition to the Joker’s plan to take over Arkham Asylum, Batman must also battle Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, and Scarecrow.
The 2011 follow-up, Batman: Arkham City, broadens the scope to cover more of Gotham and introduces more iconic bad guys including Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, and The Penguin. With Batman: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady followed up its first two games in 2015. This game features an open environment and a Batmobile that can be transformed.
Three games stand out for their meaty, combative gameplay, while the stealth and puzzle elements add some variety. These games are worth checking out if you’ve never played them and you’re a fan of the Dark Knight, but you’ll probably find them cheaper on other platforms, at least for the foreseeable future.
In any event, Batman: Arkham Trilogy (whether you’re a first-time player or reliving the three games) might be able to keep you busy while you wait for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League from Rocksteady to release. After receiving a negative response to a lengthy gameplay preview, Rocksteady and WB Games decided to delay that game from May until next February. The release date for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was initially set for 2022.
