In Mortal Kombat 1, the introduction of Kameo fighters adds a new dimension to the combat experience. These characters can be summoned mid-battle to assist you, each bringing their unique skills and abilities into play. Some are familiar faces from previous Mortal Kombat titles, while others are exclusive to the Kameo feature. In this guide, we’ll delve into how Kameos work and provide a roadmap to unlock all these dynamic fighters.

How Kameos Work in Mortal Kombat 1

When selecting your main fighter, you’ll also choose a Kameo character. These Kameos come with their own array of skills, special moves, and finishers, including Brutalities and Fatalities. During battle, once your Kameo Meter is at least half-full, you can execute a special attack by pressing the assist button (R1/RB/R). Your chosen Kameo will swiftly enter the arena and launch a powerful attack. You can further customize these moves by holding a specific direction while activating the assist button.

At launch, there are 15 Kameo characters to choose from, with 10 available right from the start:

Unlocking Additional Kameo Fighters

Five more Kameos become accessible as you progress through the game and increase your Mortal Kombat 1 profile level. Engaging in activities like Invasions can significantly speed up your profile leveling, granting you access to these characters:

1. Scorpion — Unlocked at Level 5
2. Sub-Zero — Unlocked at Level 10
3. Kung Lao — Unlocked at Level 15
4. Shujinko — Unlocked at Level 20
5. Motaro — Unlocked at Level 25
