Delve into the Preorder Bonuses for Cities: Skylines 2 Standard and Ultimate Editions – Is It Worth the Early Purchase?

As Cities: Skylines 2’s pre-launch hiccups make players hesitant about early buying, they are eager to learn about the preorder perks and assess their value. This guide presents a comprehensive list of all the additional content included in the preorder of Cities: Skylines 2’s Standard and Ultimate Editions.

Preorder Benefits for the Standard Edition

Preordering Cities: Skylines 2’s Standard Edition brings two enticing bonuses: the “Tamper” starter map and the “Landmark Buildings” pack. This pack features nine iconic architectural wonders. Notably, the “Tamper” map mirrors the landscape of a city in Finland and happens to be the second-largest city in the country, also serving as the base of Colossal Order, the game’s developer.

Exclusive to the PC version, the preorder bonuses for Cities: Skylines 2 are unavailable for consoles until spring 2024. Xbox and PlayStation players will need to exercise patience as they await the commencement of console preorders.

Preorder Perks for the Ultimate Edition

Opting for the Ultimate Edition of Cities: Skylines 2 grants players access to the “Tamper” map, “Landmark Buildings” pack, and an “Expansion Pass.” Premium content, including extra Radio Stations, San Francisco set, an assets pack, and content creator packs, unlocks with Expansion Pass.

The complete list of preorder bonuses for the Ultimate Edition includes:

  • Tamper starting map.
  • Landmark Buildings pack (featuring nine real-world iconic structures).
  • San Francisco Set (comprising the Golden Gate Bridge, a muscle car garage, five distinct muscle car models, a police vehicle, and the San Francisco map).
  • Assets Pack.
  • Radio Stations (releasing in Q4 ’24, Q1 ’24, and Q2 ’24).
  • Content Creator Pack.

Should You Consider Preordering Cities: Skylines 2?

Due to the initial performance challenges faced by the game, it is advisable for players to refrain from preordering Cities: Skylines 2. A more prudent approach to enjoying this urban development simulation is to obtain it through the PC Game Pass. This way, players can save money and relish the gameplay while awaiting necessary patches.

It’s noteworthy that Cities: Skylines 2 is grappling with significant performance issues on PC. The developer, Paradox Interactive, has acknowledged these concerns and pledged ongoing work to enhance performance on both PC and console platforms.
