Master the Art of Growing Plants in Sons of the Forest to Ensure Food Security and Resources Amidst the Horror.

In the heart of the chilling and mysterious Sons of the Forest lies a crucial survival aspect: gardening. Amidst the horror and cannibal threats, players need to ensure their sustenance and health by growing and harvesting plants effectively. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to cultivate plants in Sons of the Forest:
Understanding the Importance of Gardening in Sons of the Forest
While combating cannibals and surviving the wilderness, players must maintain their health through proper nourishment. Food directly impacts strength, stamina, and overall vitality. Although hunting is an option, cultivating plants becomes a valuable strategy, especially for those settled at a base.
Building Planters for Cultivation

Seeds cannot be planted directly into the ground. Players can craft wooden planters to kickstart their agricultural endeavors. Within the Survivalist Handbook (accessed by pressing “B”), players will find blueprints for two types of planters:

- Standing Planter (18 Sticks)
- Wall Planter (16 Sticks)

Select the desired planter and place it, then gather sticks to create the structure. Sticks can be collected from the forest floor, small trees (using an axe or chainsaw), or by commanding companions like Kelvin to gather them. Kelvin can also assist in finishing the construction of the planters.
Obtaining Seeds for Planting

Seeds are vital for gardening and can be obtained by harvesting berries or destroying specific plants found throughout the forest. Seeds can be collected from plants such as Aloe Vera, Arrowleaf, Blackberry, Blueberry, and more. Once harvested, seeds will automatically appear in the inventory.
Planting and Growing Crops

Approach a planter with the desired seeds in the inventory. When the leaf icon appears, interact with the planter to plant the seeds. Each planter can hold only one type of seed, so players wanting a variety of plants should consider building multiple planters. Crops typically take about two to three in-game days to reach full maturity and are not affected by water or specific placement.
Important Note: Edible plants grown in planters will be consumed automatically by companions like Kelvin and Virginia.
Mastering the art of gardening in Sons of the Forest is essential for survival. By cultivating a variety of plants, players can ensure a stable source of food and resources, enhancing their chances of escaping the perilous island.
