Embark on a journey through Alan’s story in Alan Wake 2 and master the puzzles to gain access to the enigmatic Oceanview Hotel.

In Alan Wake 2, while delving into Alan’s initiation story, players must make their way to the mysterious Oceanview Hotel to meet a cryptic caller. However, the hotel’s entrance seems to reject Alan, requiring an alternative path via the rooftops to access the hotel’s balcony.
As you navigate the treacherous rooftops, you’ll encounter shadowy adversaries and face two quick puzzles. One involves the Angel Lamp and nearby lights, and the other demands you to unveil a keypad code for balcony entry. Here’s a swift guide to solving both puzzles.
Rooftop Light Puzzle:

- As you traverse the rooftops in your quest to reach the Oceanview Hotel in Alan Wake 2, you’ll encounter a staircase leading to a seemingly blocked area. To advance, use the Angel Lamp in combination with nearby lights to forge a path.
- Commence with the light at the top of the staircase. Switching this light on or off alters the destination of the staircase. Begin by turning this light off. This action will transport you to a small roof segment located just above your intended destination. There, you’ll find a second light above this platform; turn it off to materialize a staircase in the area below.
- Return to the door and ascend the stairs to the initial location. Switch on the overhead light to redirect the staircase’s destination, then pass through the doors. Now, you can descend through the roof access area onto the Oceanview Hotel’s balcony.
Oceanview Hotel Balcony Key Code:

- Once you reach the Oceanview Hotel’s balcony, you’ll encounter a locked door with a keypad requiring a four-digit key. Clues to decode the keypad are scattered around the patio, specifically within advertisements for the Oceanview Cocktail.
- To unveil the code, venture behind the bar and secure the double-barrel shotgun by altering the light in the storeroom near the patio to transform it into a bar. (Remember to switch the light back off while behind the bar to revert the area to the storeroom temporarily and acquire the shotgun.) While the bar is present, inspect the menu on the wall above the shotgun’s location.
- On the menu, you’ll find prices for various drinks, including the Oceanview Cocktail. Note down the price of the Oceanview Cocktail, which conveniently serves as the four-digit keypad code. The $25.50 price translates to the code, so input 2-5-5-0 on the keypad to unlock the hotel doors.
