A viral clip from an Overwatch 2 ranked match showcases a comically unfortunate incident involving D.Va’s mech and Oasis traffic.

In a recent viral Overwatch 2 clip, players witnessed an amusing twist of fate as D.Va’s mech met a rather unconventional demise during a competitive match on the map Oasis. This lighthearted moment provided a welcome respite for the Overwatch 2 community, which has been navigating the game’s tumultuous launch and mixed reception on Steam since its 2023 re-release.

Developed as a live-service competitive title, Overwatch 2’s development team continually strives to introduce updates and features while addressing issues reported by the player community. This ongoing process effectively transforms players into live Quality Assurance (QA) testers, allowing the team to swiftly patch major game-breaking problems as they arise.

However, Overwatch 2’s intricate gameplay mechanics, ever-evolving meta, and diverse hero interactions can sometimes lead to quirky in-game occurrences. The viral clip, shared by Reddit user Typical_Plane4874, depicted a comical situation in which D.Va’s mech was instantaneously obliterated after attempting to punish a failed Reinhardt Charge using D.Va’s Call Mech ability. Rather than finishing off D.Va, the opposing team’s Reinhardt and Brigitte responded with amusement, acknowledging the unusual outcome.

While some Reddit users initially speculated that this incident could be attributed to a newly discovered bug, experienced players recognized that the outcome was not an anomaly. Since the addition of Oasis to the original Overwatch map pool in 2016, the development team had hinted at the potential hazards posed by the bustling traffic on the map’s outskirts. In the clip, D.Va activated her Call Mech ability right on Oasis’ busy streets, and upon closer inspection, it became evident that a passing car collided with her during the animation, resulting in the mech’s swift demise.

While it may appear peculiar that D.Va’s fully healthy mech succumbed to a mundane vehicular accident when impervious to rockets, energy beams, and explosives, it is precisely these unpredictable and chaotic interactions that contribute to Overwatch 2’s unique blend of tactical squad-based gameplay.
