Blizzard has announced plans to buff Overwatch 2’s upcoming Tank hero, Mauga, in response to player feedback during the hero’s trial period. Mauga, revealed during BlizzCon 2023, will wield two massive chainguns, each with unique abilities, offering a distinctive playstyle. However, player concerns about Mauga’s survivability have prompted the developers to address the issue before the hero’s official release in Season 8. The Tank hero relies heavily on supports and faces challenges staying alive without their assistance.

Mauga’s abilities include an incendiary chaingun that ignites targets and a secondary gun dealing critical damage to burning enemies. His passive, Berserker, grants temporary health when dealing critical damage. Despite these features, Mauga lacks substantial mitigation tools, making him vulnerable on the frontline. Overwatch 2’s Lead Hero Designer, Alec Dawson, acknowledged the feedback and mentioned potential buffs, such as increased health, adjustments to self-healing with Cardiac Overdrive, or enhancements to the Berserker passive.

As Overwatch 2 players await Mauga’s official debut in Season 8, the developers aim to fine-tune the hero’s mechanics to ensure a more balanced and enjoyable experience for Tank enthusiasts.
