Blizzard has unveiled the highly-anticipated Roadhog rework for Overwatch 2, addressing player concerns about his viability in the game’s 5v5 setup. The update, set to go live on November 14, introduces significant changes to Roadhog’s abilities, particularly focusing on Take a Breather and the Scrap Gun. The new ability, Pig Pen, adds a trap that slows and damages nearby enemies, providing Roadhog with a more versatile toolkit.

Scrap Gun’s secondary fire functionality is removed, and it now fires a shrapnel volley of 4 large projectiles in the center of the shot. The Take a Breather ability sees substantial alterations, activated by holding Secondary Fire, with a reduced cooldown of 1 second and a new resource meter. At full charge, it can heal up to 450 health over 3 seconds, and the option to toggle Take a Breather has been added. However, damage reduction is decreased from 50% to 30%, and it no longer amplifies healing received upon ending.

The Overwatch 2 community has long awaited these Roadhog changes, and the rework aims to strike a balance between maintaining the hero’s core identity and adapting to the evolving game dynamics.
