A bug affecting Super Mario RPG‘s progression has been identified, potentially causing issues for players in the 2023 remake of the 1996 classic, Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. The game’s narrative follows Mario and allies on a mission to recover seven Star Pieces and thwart the invasion of the Mushroom Kingdom by the Smithy Gang.

Nintendo has officially acknowledged a bug hindering progression in Super Mario RPG, particularly after the Paratroopa event in Monster Town. This glitch prevents Paratroopers from appearing when players reach Land’s End. Nintendo is actively working on a fix and plans to release a patch in December.
Nintendo’s Workaround Solution for Bug in Super Mario RPG Patch Wait: Navigate to Mushroom Kingdom and Return to Land’s End
While waiting for the Super Mario RPG patch, Nintendo suggests a workaround for players facing the bug. If the error occurs, players can return to the Mushroom Kingdom and then head back to Land’s End, prompting the Paratroopers to appear. Nintendo emphasizes that using the map to travel to the Mushroom Kingdom is not problematic. Once back in Land’s End from the Mushroom Kingdom, players can use the map or the “To World Map” option. Importantly, there’s no need to enter the castle in the Mushroom Kingdom to resolve the bug; entering the town around the castle is sufficient.
Despite the progression bug, Super Mario RPG continues to receive high praise from players. The remake has successfully retained the essence of the original, pleasing both new and veteran players. The game’s positive reception solidifies its status as one of the top-rated games of the year, alleviating concerns among longtime fans about potential changes to the beloved classic.
