In the cozy, mystery-filled world of On Your Tail, players are tasked with uncovering secrets across a charming open-world map. The game’s first true mystery challenge, Theft at Villa De Montoni, requires players to solve a theft involving several clues scattered across a town map, marking the start of a thrilling journey.

How to Complete Stormy Welcome

The mystery begins with the Stormy Welcome quest, where players take control of Diana after she awakens in a grand manor. Here, they’ll meet Orlando De Montoni, a key figure in the story. Engaging in dialogue with Orlando is crucial, as it helps unlock important clues for solving the theft. After completing the available dialogue options, players will need to search the manor for clues using the Chronolens, a tool that reveals hidden details in the environment.

Clues to Find

Three clues are hidden in the manor, and players must find them in the following locations:

  1. The open chest on the bottom floor.
  2. The messy drawer on the top floor.
  3. The bookshelf on the top floor.

Once these clues are discovered, players can speak with Orlando once more before leaving the manor. This marks the beginning of the larger town exploration and introduces Paun, a new friend who offers a break from the main story with optional side activities.

Navigating the Town

After leaving the manor, players will be introduced to the town. While the lack of a compass may make it tricky to navigate, players can use the coastline as a reference point to find their bearings. To progress the Stormy Welcome quest, players must locate a workshop by the pier. Following the coast to the workshop, they’ll meet Chea and engage in dialogue to advance the storyline.

Meeting Lexua

Next, players need to deliver a respirator to Lexua, a grumpy fisherman near the workshop. Initially, Diana is hesitant to approach Lexua, but with Paun’s support, players can proceed. Paun can also be used for side activities like playing marbles or enjoying a coffee, which allows players to earn character and location cards. Once Diana speaks with Lexua and returns to the workshop to exhaust all dialogue options with Chea and Malagamba, the final clue, Chea’s prototype, will be revealed.

Solving the Mystery: Theft at Villa De Montoni

With all the clues in hand, players can use the intuitive card system to solve the mystery. The goal is to determine two key events:

  1. The thief searches the entire villa.
  2. Orlando sees the thief escaping.

Players must experiment with different combinations of clues to move the thief around the villa without causing inconsistencies. The game provides the option to try multiple combinations until the correct sequence is found. Players must ensure that the thief follows the correct path while avoiding alerting Orlando too soon.

The optimal solution to the mystery is as follows:

  1. Books on the ground
  2. Messy drawers
  3. Open chest
  4. Chea’s prototype

Conclusion: After solving the mystery, players return to Chea’s workshop and head back to the manor to report their findings to Orlando. Completing this task advances the story, with Diana finding a new home. This marks a significant moment in On Your Tail, allowing players to experience the next stage of the adventure while enjoying the game’s engaging blend of exploration, puzzles, and heartwarming character interactions.
