Pokémon Pocket kicks off 2025 with an exciting new event, the Blastoise Drop Event, which launched on December 31, 2024. This special event introduces a range of new promotional cards and offers players the opportunity to engage in Solo Battles against AI opponents to win rewards such as Promo-A Vol. 3 packs, Hourglasses, EXP, and Shinedust. Here’s everything you need to know about this event, including missions, rewards, and the best deck to use for optimal success.

Blastoise Drop Event Overview

Event Duration:

  • Start Date: December 31, 2024
  • End Date: January 14, 2025

Featured Reward:

  • Blastoise full-art variant

Event Type:

  • Solo Battles

The Blastoise Drop Event marks Pokémon Pocket’s third promotional card release, following the Venusaur Drop Event in November 2024. This time, players can take on Blastoise-themed AI decks and complete missions to earn valuable rewards.

New Cards Introduced in the Blastoise Drop Event

The Blastoise Drop Event introduces five new cards in Promo-A Vol. 3:

  • Promo-A 027: Snivy
  • Promo-A 028: Volcarona
  • Promo-A 029: Blastoise
  • Promo-A 030: Eevee
  • Promo-A 031: Cinccino

While Volcarona, Blastoise, and Snivy feature new art with unchanged effects, Snivy and Eevee have updated stats and effects. The new Eevee gains the ability “Growl,” which reduces damage from enemy attacks by 20, while the new Snivy introduces a move, “Tackle,” dealing 20 DMG for one Energy.

New Card Drop Rates

The cards available in the event have different drop rates, with Blastoise being the rarest:

  • Blastoise: 12.66%
  • Volcarona: 15.82%
  • Snivy: 23.84%
  • Eevee: 23.84%
  • Cinccino: 23.84%

Players can complete 14 missions during the event, which reward additional resources such as Ticket Shop, Hourglasses, and EXP. Here’s a breakdown of the mission difficulty and rewards:

How to Farm Promo-A Vol. 3 Booster Packs

The Blastoise Drop Event features Solo Battles with varying difficulties, each offering different chances of obtaining Promo-A Vol. 3 packs. To maximize pack farming efficiency, focus on Expert-level battles, which offer a 100% pack drop rate.

Here’s the Promo-A pack drop rate for each difficulty:

  • Beginner: 51%
  • Intermediate: 64%
  • Advanced: 80%
  • Expert: 100%

Event Stamina is only consumed when you win a match. If you encounter a bad RNG, you can concede and retry without penalty, making farming much easier.

Best Deck for the Blastoise Drop Event

Since all enemy decks in the Blastoise Drop Event are Water-type, a Lightning-type deck is highly effective. Using Pikachu ex will give you a significant advantage, as it deals +20 damage to Water-type decks, including Blastoise. Here’s the recommended decklist:

CardQuantity
Pikachu ex2
Zapdos ex2
Blitzle2
Zebstrika2
Potion2
Poke Ball2
Professor’s Research2
Giovanni2
Sabrina2
X-Speed2

Tips for the Blastoise Drop Event

To make the most of this event, keep these key tips in mind:

  1. Avoid Full-Art Variants: For Advanced and Expert missions, only diamond-rarity cards count, so avoid using full-art cards, which count as star-rarity cards.
  2. Farm Expert Difficulty: Only Expert difficulty guarantees a Promo-A Vol. 3 pack reward. Don’t waste Event Stamina on lower difficulties once the missions are complete.
  3. Use Auto-Battle: The Blastoise Drop Event’s Solo Battles are relatively easy. Set the game to auto-battle to farm packs while AFK.
  4. Save Event Hourglasses: Hourglasses carry over to the next Drop Event, so save them once you’ve completed all rewards in the Blastoise Drop Event.

Don’t miss out on the exciting rewards and the chance to collect some fantastic new cards in Pokémon Pocket’s Blastoise Drop Event!
