A brand-new Girls Band Cry movie has officially been confirmed and is now in production. The announcement was accompanied by a visual featuring the protagonist, Nina Iseri, though a release date has not yet been revealed.

The project builds on the success of the 13-episode anime series animated by Toei Animation, which aired in Japan from April to June 2024. Directed by Kazuo Sakai, with series composition by Jukki Hanada, character designs by Nari Teshima, and music by Kenji Tamai, the show quickly became a fan favorite.
Following the series, Toei announced a two-part compilation film. The first part, Seishun Kyoso Kyoko, premieres on October 3, 2025, while the second, Naa, Mirai, will release on November 14, 2025. The newly announced film will be separate from these recaps, offering fans fresh content rather than a retelling.
The main cast returns with Rina as Nina Iseri, Yuuri as Momoka Kawaragi, Mirei as Subaru Awa, Natsu as Tomo Ebizuka, and Shuri as Rupa. Their performances were a highlight of the original series, which won widespread praise for its heartfelt storytelling and music. In fact, Girls Band Cry was named the Best Original Show of 2024, after also topping the Spring 2024 anime rankings.
For those who want to catch up, the series is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. The story follows Nina Iseri, a high school dropout who moves to Tokyo in search of a new beginning. After meeting her idol guitarist Momoka Kawaragi, the two form a band alongside three other girls. Each member battles personal struggles, but their shared love of music helps them push forward and chase their dreams.
