Mike Mignola’s Hellboy Web of Wyrd, a forthcoming roguelite action game with a look reminiscent of vintage Hellboy comics, has been unveiled by developer Upstream Arcade and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment.
This information was unveiled in a snazzy trailer that showed off some of the game’s meticulous but (literally) punchy fighting during the pre-show portion of The Game Awards 2022. The game will eventually be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, however no specific date for release was provided.

“Hellboy Web of Wyrd is described as “a roguelite action adventure with an original story created in partnership with Dark Horse Comics and creator Mike Mignola” on the game’s Steam page. Hellboy looks into an agent’s disappearance. Get ready for a huge fistfight.”
Hellboy Web of Wyrd clearly aims to have a visual aesthetic evocative of Mike Mignola’s classic Hellboy comics, as you can see in the teaser up top. With such an aesthetic, it’s simple to imagine how those comics’ protagonists, antagonists, and other elements may be included into the game.

We’ll have to wait until then to learn more, but Hellboy fans should keep Web of Wyrd in mind (especially given how woefully few Hellboy video games there are).
