Remastered versions of Star Wars: Dark Forces and Turok 3 Shadow of Oblivion have been revealed by Nightdive Studios, a studio recognized for restoring and modernizing classic video games for contemporary systems, such as Quake II. In the instance of the Dark Force, Nightdive used its KEX Engine in conjunction with Lucasfilm Games to give the game fresh life.

The Dark Forces, a first-person shooter, was created by the now-defunct LucasArts and debuted in 1995, over three decades ago. The cut sequences in this updated edition appear like they were taken directly from far more recent games, and it supports 4K gaming at 120FPS. Because it’s “coming soon” to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, players may earn trophies and achievements and, of course, it now supports gamepads for contemporary platforms. Nightdive vowed to make another announcement later this year but hasn’t yet provided a specific release date.

The first-person shooter Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion was remastered from the original 2000 Nintendo 64 release. Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, the first two games in the trilogy, were also previously updated by Nightdive for younger players and those who want to play them again on modern devices.
The business used its KEX Engine to recreate Turok 3 similarly to how the Dark Forces were. The game has enhanced lighting and graphics, as well as updated gameplay and platform-specific features, and it supports 4K resolution at 120FPS. IGN claims that the remaster includes some fresh material, such as a brand-new locale and a fresh heads-up display (HUD) perspective. Nightdive doesn’t yet have a Turok 3 release date, but those who are interested may now add it to their calendar.
