A forthcoming For Honor update is set to introduce substantial alterations to the gameplay of 8 of its weapon-wielding warriors.
During the recent Warrior’s Den livestream, Ubisoft Montreal unveiled some surprising news alongside their announcement of For Honor Year 7 Season 3: the complete removal of the Reflex Guard mechanic left fans astonished.
So, what exactly is For Honor’s Reflex Guard, and why does its elimination hold significance for players? Since the game’s initial release in 2017, it has organized its heroes into distinct classes, each representing unique combat styles. These combat classes encompass the versatile Vanguard, the robust Heavy, the intricate Hybrid, and the lethal Assassin.
Historically, Assassins have posed a considerable challenge for players due to their distinctive Reflex Guard characteristic. In essence, when selecting a stance (top, left, or right), the window of opportunity to block attacks from that direction is extremely brief, unlike other hero classes that maintain their blocks.
Consequently, Assassins offer a less formidable defense, which, when combined with their typically smaller health pools, renders them a challenging choice, especially when swiftly switching between stances. Unless you happen to be a highly skilled For Honor player or utilizing a mouse and keyboard setup, it can often feel as though you’re operating at a significant disadvantage.
This For Honor update arrives on September 14, 2023, and will impact the following heroes:
Peacekeeper
Orochi
Berserker
Gladiator
Nuxia
Shinobi
Shaolin
Shaman
Ubisoft also divulged information about the upcoming season of the game. For Honor Year 7 Season 3, titled “Deceit,” revolves around the Ghost Festival event, featuring a fusion of supernatural elements, prominently showcasing the Wu Lin faction. Players can anticipate the introduction of fresh battle and event passes that offer various in-game bonuses and character cosmetics as rewards, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
For Honor is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with cross-play multiplayer enabled.
