In the 41st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine for this year, the collaborative work of storywriter Yūto Tsukuda and artist Shun Saeki, known as “Tenmaku Cinema,” reached its conclusion with the publication of the final chapter. Alongside this closure, an exciting announcement was made. Shueisha revealed that a bonus manga, scheduled for release on the Shonen Jump+ platform in November, is in the works. Notably, the wording in the announcement implies that this manga will take the form of a one-shot rather than a serialized work.
Shueisha also revealed that the authors will present a new one-shot manga in the forthcoming spring issue of Jump Giga. However, it wasn’t specified whether this one-shot is related to “Tenmaku Cinema” or an entirely new project.
The series is available in English through Viz Media on the Shonen Jump app and also published by Shueisha in English on their MANGA Plus service.
Viz Media describes the series:Hajime Shinichi’s life takes an unexpected turn as he becomes the vessel for the spirit of a departed screenwriter. This intriguing story comes from the creators of “Food Wars!”
The duo, known for their work on “Food Wars!,” launched “Tenmaku Cinema” in Weekly Shounen Jump in April. Volume 1 released on August 4, followed by Volume 2 on October 4, with Volume 3, the final installment, scheduled for November 2.
Their previous success, “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma,” began in 2012 and concluded in August 2019 with a three-chapter epilogue. Viz Media provided weekly English chapters on its app and website, along with English compiled volumes. Shueisha also digitally published it in English via MANGA Plus.
The “Food Wars!” manga inspired five anime seasons, OVAs, specials, and a spinoff. The duo collaborated with writer NisiOisin for a one-shot manga in September 2019 and another in May 2020, both featured in Weekly Shonen Jump.
