With the customary September Directs being among of the most anticipated of the year, Nintendo has continuously been a fan of airing Nintendo Directs during this month. And the business will keep up that tradition in 2023 because it has said a Nintendo Direct will appear on September 14 of that year.
The firm announced this yesterday on Twitter, adding that the direct will air on September 14 at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET for “roughly 40” minutes.
There are many unanswered questions surrounding this Direct in terms of what to anticipate. Nintendo’s major upcoming product, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, only received its own dedicated direct last month. In that same direct, Nintendo also revealed that a new Mario Red OLED Switch would be released.
Another significant Switch exclusive that releases next month is Detective Pikachu Returns, and it’s likely that we’ll learn more about it at this Direct. We recently had a hands-on experience with it last week; you can see our thoughts about that here. There are still a ton of games coming to Switch in the final few months of 2023, but there aren’t many exclusives. Since Nintendo’s September Directs typically give players a sneak peek at the next year, we’re hoping to learn more about the company’s 2024 ambitions at this one.
Given that “this winter” dips into next year, it appears that we will get additional information regarding the first few months of 2024.
In that regard, it has been stated that Nintendo gave a developer preview of the Switch replacement at Gamescom last month. According to other sources, the new console would be portable like the Switch and be released in the second half of 2024. Maybe we’ll find out during this Direct. Time will only tell.
At 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET, this Nintendo Direct will start and last for about 40 minutes.
