Management of Novice Alchemist: English Dub Premiere and Cast Revealed

A new anime adaptation is on the way with the Fantasia Bunko imprint revealing that their title Shinmai Renkinjutsushi no Tenpo Keiei, aka Management of Novice Alchemist, is in the works. After being first announced in September 2021, we’ve had several updates that have laid out most of the show. With a premiere date of October 3rd, 2022, Sentai Filmworks previously announced their pickup of the series with distribution through HIDIVE as an exclusive.

Now, HIDIVE has revealed a September 30th, 2023 premiere for the English dubbed adaptation of the show. it has Kyle Jones directing it at Studio ENG! from the scripts that he and Marta Bechtol worked on. The English cast includes:

Hiroshi Ikehata directed the series, with Shigeru Murakoshi overseeing the scripts. Yosuke Ito took charge of the character designs and also serves as the chief animation director, while ENGI handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kanon Takao as Sarasa Ford
  • Hina Kino as Rorea
  • Saori Ōnishi as Iris Lotze
  • Nanaka Suwa as Kate Starven
  • Mitsuki Saiga as Ophelia Millis
  • Ami Koshimizu as Maria

The series features the opening theme song “Hajimaru Welcome” (Starting Welcome) by Aguri Ōnishi, and the ending theme song “Fine Days” by Nanaka Suwa.

The light novel series comes from Mizuho Itsuki which began in 2018 and has five volumes out in Japan so far. A manga adaptation from kirero began in 2020 with one volume out so far.

Plot Concept: The story follows Sarasa, an orphan girl who just graduated from the royal alchemist training school. Having received an isolated shop as a gift from her teacher, she embarks on the leisurely life she long dreamt of as an alchemist. However, what awaits her is a shop more decrepit than she ever imagined, out in the boondocks. As she gathers ingredients, trains herself, and sells goods to become an upstanding alchemist, she tries to lead her very own slow, relaxed alchemist life.
