CS2 Players Call on Valve to Remove Elo-Damaging Feature, Expressing Frustration

CS2 players are in an uproar over a harsh penalty system that places them at a significant disadvantage, even before they’ve had a chance to play a single round. The issue arises when a team member abandons a match before it begins, leaving their teammates in a frustrating four-vs-five scenario, with limited options—enduring a grueling match or opting for a quick surrender.

What compounds the problem is that choosing to surrender results in an Elo reduction for the affected players. The CS2 community has come together to petition Valve for the implementation of a remake feature, a feature that has been present in VALORANT for years.

The root of this issue can be traced back to CS2’s Premier game mode, where both teams must agree upon a map through a veto system. This is currently the sole method for queuing official server matches in CS2, in contrast to CS:GO, which offers both Premier and map-choice queue systems.

While CS2 players have called for strict penalties, such as six-hour bans for early leavers, they hope these measures will deter such behavior. As CS2 is still in beta, players anticipate future changes and potential solutions influenced by VALORANT’s practices, offering hope for a more equitable gameplay experience.
