In a stunning display of gaming prowess, a Tears of the Kingdom player has accomplished the seemingly impossible by completing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom without ever setting foot on the surface of Hyrule. This remarkable achievement has garnered attention on social media, highlighting the incredible freedom afforded by Tears of the Kingdom’s expansive open-world design.

This extraordinary journey began when Reddit user Black_Hand_Gotthard embarked on a quest to obtain the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom before acquiring the paraglider. They achieved this feat by diligently solving shrines scattered throughout the Hyrule Sky, meeting the stamina requirement for unlocking the sword. To traverse the game’s numerous Sky Islands, they ingeniously utilized a combination of Zonai Wings and custom-designed flying contraptions, ultimately intercepting the Light Dragon and extracting the legendary sword from its resting place.
Building upon this initial triumph, the player set an even more audacious goal: to complete the game without descending to Hyrule’s surface. Their determination paid off, as evidenced by a recent Reddit update featuring a screenshot of Link aiding Zelda at the conclusion of Tears of the Kingdom. Notably, the player’s inventory, as shown in the image, lacked the paraglider, confirming that Link had not pursued this essential item before embarking on the game’s ultimate challenge.
The same inventory screenshot reveals that Black_Hand_Gotthard’s preparations for the final showdown included obtaining the Master Sword and conquering all 32 shrines scattered across the Hyrule Sky. This strategic approach enabled them to enhance Link’s capabilities with an additional stamina wheel and two extra heart containers, in addition to the one obtained during the tutorial section.
Armed with six hearts and the Master Sword, the intrepid player ventured into Tears of the Kingdom’s final battle by plummeting into the treacherous depths of the Hyrule Castle Chasm. This daring move, sans paraglider, would typically prove fatal due to gravity, but the resourceful gamer had stockpiled fairies to exploit their revival abilities, defying Link’s vulnerability to falls.

While it remains uncertain whether Nintendo ever anticipated such a challenging feat, let alone its successful completion, this remarkable accomplishment underscores the extraordinary problem-solving possibilities inherent in the latest Zelda installment. It joins a growing list of unconventional gaming feats in Tears of the Kingdom, such as a player previously completing most temples without the use of the paraglider.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently available on Nintendo Switch, inviting players to embark on their own extraordinary adventures in the vast realm of Hyrule.
