Kadokawa recently unveiled exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the second season of the television anime adaptation of Zappon and Yasumo’s light novel series, “Banished From The Heroes’ Party.” The official title for this new season is “Shin no Nakama janai to Yūsha no Party o Oidasareta node, Henkyō de Slow Life Suru Koto ni Shimashita 2nd,” and it’s set to premiere in January 2024.
In this announcement, Kadokawa not only revealed the release date but also shared details about the show’s staff. Notably, Makoto Hoshino, who directed the first season, has taken on the role of chief director for this installment. The directorial duties are now in the capable hands of Satoshi Takafuji, known for his work on the ninth episode of the initial season. Interestingly, Studio Flad is now solely responsible for animation production, whereas the first season was a collaboration between Studio Flad and Wolfsbane.
The production team also includes new members like Yukiko Ashino, credited for art setting, alongside returning staff member Tsukasa Ohira, both contributing to the art direction. Additionally, Norimasa Teramoto replaces Kenji Takehara as the director of photography, while Takatoshi Hamano takes over from Nobuyuki Abe as the sound director. The sound production responsibilities now rest with Magic Capsule, succeeding On-Lead. Fortunately, the rest of the main staff from the first season remains unchanged.

For those unfamiliar with the series, “Banished From The Heroes’ Party” follows the story of Red, a former member of the Hero’s party destined to save the world from the evil forces of Taraxon, the Raging Demon Lord. However, he was kicked out of the party by one of his comrades. Red’s new goal is to open an apothecary and live an easy life on the frontier. But keeping the secret of his former life may not be as simple as he thinks, especially when the beautiful adventurer Rit shows up and asks to move in with him.
The first season of the anime, directed by Makoto Hoshino, was produced by Wolfsbane and Studio Flad. It gained popularity despite its initial delay due to “various circumstances” and was streamed on Funimation during the fall of 2021. Currently, the first season is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
The light novels are published by Yen Press, and the story, originally serialized on the “Shōsetsuka ni Nārō” website by Zappon, continues to captivate readers. Kadokawa began publishing the print version of the story in June 2018, complete with illustrations by Yasumo. Additionally, a manga adaptation by Masahiro Ikeno was introduced in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in May 2018. As of now, the franchise boasts over 2.2 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
Fans of the series can mark their calendars for January 2024 as they prepare to embark on another exciting adventure with Red and his companions in this unique anime.
Stay tuned for more updates as the premiere date approaches.
