The official website for the highly-anticipated television anime adaptation of Inori’s “I’m in Love with the Villainess” (Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijō) light novel series has recently provided some exciting updates. Nana Mizuki is set to join the anime’s cast, lending her voice to the character Manaria Sousse, a prominent princess hailing from the Kingdom of Sousse.

Scheduled to make its debut on Tokyo MX on October 2 at 12:30 a.m. JST (effectively, October 3), the anime will later be broadcasted on various other networks. Anime enthusiasts can also look forward to streaming the show on popular platforms such as d Anime Store and ABEMA.
The main cast of the anime includes Yū Serizawa, who will portray Rae Taylor, and Karin Nanami, taking on the role of Claire Francois. Additionally, the ensemble cast features talented individuals such as:
- Aimi, who will bring Misha Jur’s character to life.
- Ikumi Hasegawa, embodying the role of Lene Aurousseau.
- Sara Matsumoto, providing the voice for Loretta Kugret.
- Minami Kurisaka, giving voice to Pipi Barlier.
- KENN, cast as Rod Bauer.
- Daisuke Namikawa, portraying Thane Bauer.
- Yōko Hikasa, lending her voice to Yū Bauer.
The upcoming anime adaptation of “I’m in Love with the Villainess” boasts a talented team behind the scenes. Directed by Hideaki Oba, known for their work on “Love of Kill,” and featuring Ayumu Hisao as scriptwriter and series supervisor, recognized for their contributions to series like “Love of Kill” and “Devils’ Line,” the anime is in capable hands. Youko Satou is tasked with adapting AONOSHIMO and Hanagata’s character designs for animation, ensuring a visually captivating experience. Hajime Takakuwa serves as the sound director, while the music is skillfully composed by Noriyuki Asakura and Usagi to Uma.
Fans can anticipate an added layer of excitement as the main cast members, Yū Serizawa (Rae) and Karin Nanami (Claire), will perform both the opening theme song, “Raise Y/Our Hands!!,” and the ending theme song, “O.C. Optimum Combination.”
For English-speaking fans, Seven Seas Entertainment is bringing the light novels to an English-speaking audience. The story follows an office worker, Oohashi Rei, who finds herself in the body of her favorite otome game’s protagonist, Claire Francois, the main antagonist. Rei embarks on a mission to romance Claire, deviating from the game’s original plot and adding an intriguing twist.
The series, originally launched by Inori on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2018, saw its digital publication by GL Bunko begin in 2019, concluding in 2021 with the release of the fifth and final volume. The novels feature beautifully crafted illustrations by Hanagata. Additionally, AONOSHIMO adapted the series into a manga in 2020, published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. Inori also penned a spinoff titled “Heimin no Kuse ni Namaikina!” in 2021, subsequently released as a digital novel in English titled “I’m in Love with the Villainess Spin-Off: She’s so Cheeky for a Commoner.”
