Raid Hour in Pokémon GO, introduced in 2019, marked a significant shift in gameplay, offering players a novel and rewarding way to acquire Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Prior to the introduction of Raid Hour, players had limited opportunities to display their Pokémon collections and secure valuable rewards. With Raid Hour, trainers have been able to participate in weekly raids, earning Candy and encountering rare Pokémon for several years.

Originally, Raid Hour was conceived as a midday event. However, it became evident that many players couldn’t partake during this timeframe. Consequently, Niantic made the strategic decision to reschedule Raid Hour to a more accessible slot, from 6 PM to 7 PM every Wednesday, aligning with players’ convenience.

Raid Hour, occurring every Wednesday during players’ local time, presents abundant opportunities to reap substantial rewards. Trainers can acquire Premier Balls, Rare Candies, TMs, and Golden Razz Berries during raids. Furthermore, the likelihood of encountering shiny Pokémon escalates during this timeframe.

This event spotlights a specific Pokémon each week, often legendary, amplifying the number of Gyms and available raids, which is particularly beneficial for trainers in rural areas with fewer Gyms and players. Whether playing solo or in groups, participants can find raids suited to their level of play. Teaming up with local groups on social media to tackle challenging raid bosses collectively enhances the experience, requiring coordinated efforts and strategic planning.

To join the event, players simply need to venture outside during the designated time, locate a Gym’s PokéStop, and spin it to receive a complimentary Raid Pass. Keep in mind that only one Raid Pass can be obtained daily. Trainers also have the option to purchase Premium Battle Passes using PokéCoins from the in-game store, with no limit on the quantity, provided they have sufficient inventory space.
Additionally, Remote Raid Passes, introduced during the pandemic, enable trainers to participate in raids remotely and are currently usable up to five times per day.
