Kadokawa has exciting news for anime enthusiasts as it announced the addition of renowned voice actress Rie Kugimiya to the cast of the upcoming television anime adaptation of Sawayoshi Azuma’s manga, “Stupid Angel Dances with the Devil” (Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru). In this romantic comedy, Kugimiya will lend her voice to Liz, a hardworking but often misguided demon world boss.

The story revolves around Masatora Akutsu, who descends to the human world in search of an idol for demons. During his quest, he encounters Lily Amane and extends an invitation for her to join him. However, things take an unexpected turn when Akutsu discovers that Lily is, in fact, an angel. Determined to make her fall from grace, he embarks on an amusing and quirky journey.
The anime features a talented cast, including:
- Yūma Uchida as Masatora Akutsu
- Ayane Sakura as Lily Amane
- Shūichirō Umeda as Yūya Tanigawa, Masatora’s first friend in his new school, known for his dual personality.
- Shunichi Toki as Kensaku Hirota, a good-natured but unlucky-in-love character.
- Nao Tōyama as Yūka Tanabashi, who sees Lily as her rival in love and is determined to compete for Masatora’s affection.
Itsuro Kawasaki, known for works like “Cardfight!! Vanguard G NEXT” and “The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting,” is directing the anime and handling series scripts. Children’s Playground Entertainment, in collaboration with GAINA, is responsible for the production. Character design is by Yūko Yahiro, music composition by Takurō Iga, and music production by ANLA.
Anime fans can anticipate the premiere of “Stupid Angel Dances with the Devil” in 2024. Sawayoshi Azuma’s manga, serialized in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine since June 2016, continues to captivate readers, with the 15th compiled book volume released on April 27, 2023.
