Chained Soldier, known as Mato Seihei no Slave, is set to make its debut on Japanese television screens in January 2024. The anime is an adaptation of the manga series published by Shueisha, created by Takahiro and Youhei Takemura. The manga, which began serialization in 2019 on Shonen Jump+ and is published under the Jump Comics label, has accumulated 13 tankoubon volumes as of June 2023.
Yen Press provides a synopsis of the series:
Decades ago, gates to an otherworldly and perilous dimension known as Mato—the “Demon City”—materialized across Japan. Unique abilities could be obtained by those who consumed the “peaches” grown in this realm, but there was a catch: only girls could gain these powers. When Yuuki Wakura, a downcast high school student, becomes entangled in one of these gates, he is rescued by Kyouka Uzen, the captivating commander of the Demon Defense Force’s 7th squad. However, Yuuki’s salvation comes with an unexpected twist—Kyouka orders him to become her slave?!
The anime adaptation of Chained Soldier is under the direction of Goro Kuji, who previously served as assistant director for Bungo to Alchemist, with Junji Nishimura, the director of Vlad Love, as the chief director. The stellar cast includes Yuuya Hirose as Yuki Wakura, Akari Kitou as Kyoka, Yume Miyamoto as Himari, Mari Hino as Shushu, and Hina Tachibana as Nei, adding depth and talent to the series.
