Bowser Emphasizes Ongoing Collaboration and Promising Prospects in the Gaming Industry

In a recent interview with Inverse, Doug Bowser, the President of Nintendo of America, reiterated the excellent relationship between Nintendo and Microsoft. Despite certain Xbox email leaks, Bowser affirmed that the two gaming giants maintain a strong partnership. This partnership has been evidenced throughout the Switch generation with titles like Minecraft and the inclusion of Banjo Kazooie in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
“We have a great relationship with Microsoft. We consider them to be partners in many, many ways,” Doug Bowser stated, emphasizing the fruitful collaboration between the two companies.
Furthermore, Bowser expressed that Nintendo looks forward to continuing and expanding this partnership in the future. He acknowledged the dynamic nature of the video game industry, where acquisitions and consolidations are a constant, balanced by the emergence of new and talented indie studios every year.
“So as consolidation happens, on an equal basis, we’re seeing these new studios, which really just speaks to the dynamic nature of the industry overall. In the end, that bodes well for the player,” Bowser noted.
In 2023, the partnership between Nintendo and Microsoft has already produced results, including the release of games like Minecraft Legends and the availability of Rare’s iconic FPS, GoldenEye 007, on the Nintendo Switch Online service. Microsoft has also confirmed that Nintendo players will be included in the Call of Duty community following the completion of the Activision Blizzard acquisition.
