While New Game Plus is a beloved feature in many video games, Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games has notably omitted this option. Unlike its predecessors, this latest installment does not offer a New Game Plus mode upon completing the main story. However, it has been confirmed that the development team is actively working on implementing this feature.

Instead of New Game Plus, Spider-Man 2 introduces a more challenging gameplay mode called “Ultimate” designed for expert players seeking a brutally difficult experience. In this mode, enemies become more aggressive, deal higher damage, and possess increased health, providing a formidable test of skill.
Interestingly, the first game in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series did not initially include a New Game Plus mode at launch. It was introduced through a patch about a month after the game’s release, along with the Ultimate difficulty mode. In contrast, the 2020 follow-up, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, included New Game Plus from the game’s launch, accessible once the main story was completed. Surprisingly, Spider-Man 2 does not feature trophies associated with New Game Plus or completing the game on a specific difficulty mode.

Additionally, it’s important to note that Spider-Man 2 lacks a mission replay option, so players must rely on manual save files or starting a new game to revisit crucial story moments. The development team is actively working on a Mission Replay feature, which may address this limitation in the future.
