An inventive Baldur’s Gate 3 player showcases a Monk build that reaches mind-boggling speeds, exemplifying the game’s creative possibilities.

Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to captivate gamers with its rich tapestry of class options and inventive character builds. One intrepid player, Chris Reven, has harnessed their creativity to craft a Monk build that propels their character at astonishing speeds, reminiscent of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog. This Monk build redefines the boundaries of movement within the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
In Larian Studios’ sprawling RPG, players embark on adventures by selecting from an array of 12 distinct classes, each offering a unique gameplay experience, dialog choices, and proficiencies. The choice of class not only defines one’s playstyle but also shapes their character’s interactions and abilities. To further customize their character, players can opt for specific subclasses, adding depth and specialization to their Baldur’s Gate 3 journey. After establishing their class, adventurers venture into the realm of character builds, where the possibilities are boundless.
Chris Reven’s YouTube video showcases a Monk build that elevates movement speed to unprecedented levels, ultimately granting their character an astonishing 880 feet (approximately 268.2 meters) of mobility. The Monk commences the turn with a base movement speed of 80 feet (24.3 meters) and achieves 100 feet (30.4 meters) by equipping a Crusher’s Ring and employing Longstrider, a Transmutation spell in Baldur’s Gate 3. Engaging turn mode, the Monk activates the Haste spell, catapulting their speed to 110 feet (33.5 meters). By seamlessly executing the spell sequence Step of the Wind: Dash and Dash twice, the Monk surges to 440 feet (134.11 meters). The pièce de résistance comes with the use of Click Heels, an equipment feature found in the Speed Boot, culminating in a remarkable 880 feet (268.2 meters).
In the video description, Chris Reven elucidates that a single round in Baldur’s Gate 3 spans six seconds. This phenomenal speed of 800 feet translates to a Monk zipping across the game’s map at an astonishing 146.66 feet per second, approximating a staggering 99.995 miles per hour. While these figures do not represent real-world speed, they vividly convey the character’s movement across the game world. Remarkably, one viewer calculated the Monk’s speed to be an impressive 160 kilometers per hour, surpassing the top speed of a cheetah. This extraordinary build is a testament to the limitless creativity of Baldur’s Gate 3 players.
The Monk class in Baldur’s Gate 3 predominantly specializes in melee combat, offering an array of builds for players to explore and experiment with. Although not the most prevalent class, the Monk’s versatility allows players to push the boundaries of this formidable fighter.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently accessible on PC and PlayStation 5, with an Xbox Series X/S version in development.
