The team behind the highly anticipated Digimon Adventure 02 film, titled “The Beginning,” has recently unveiled the opening video, featuring the original opening theme song, “Target Akai Shōgeki” by Kouji Wada from the Digimon Adventure 02 series.
An exclusive program showcasing the cast members and the initial four minutes of the film is scheduled for a YouTube broadcast in both Japanese and English this Thursday. The movie itself is set to premiere in Japan on Friday.
For fans in the United States, the movie will hit theaters on November 8th and 9th, with screenings featuring the English dub on November 8 and the Japanese version with subtitles on November 9, both at 7:00 p.m. local time.
The film’s narrative takes place in February 2012, continuing the storylines from Digimon Adventure tri. and Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, portraying the characters, including Daisuke Motomiya (Davis Motomiya in English), at 20 years old.
The returning cast members include Junko Noda, Arthur Lounsbery, Yoshitaka Yamaya, Naozumi Takahashi, Fukujurō Katayama, Ayaka Asai, M.A.O, Kouichi Toochika, Yuka Tokumitsu, Megumi Urawa, Junya Enoki, and Miwa Matsumoto. Notable new additions to the cast are Rie Kugimiya as Ukkomon and Megumi Ogata as Rui Ōwada, both playing pivotal roles in the storyline.
The film is helmed by director Tomohisa Taguchi and scriptwriter Akatsuki Yamatoya, with Yumeta Company and Toei Animation continuing their roles from Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.
Digimon Adventure 02, the first direct television sequel to the original Digimon Adventure series, introduced a fresh set of main characters, and it aired from April 2000 to March 2001 in Japan and from August 2000 to May 2001 in the United States. Discotek announced plans to release the anime in both English and Japanese on July 29.
The sequel film, “Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna,” served as a conclusion to Tai and Agumon’s adventures and had its premiere in Japan in February 2020, followed by international releases in 2020-2021.
