Kadokawa recently unveiled that the television anime adaptation of Akihiro Ononaka’s “Gushing Over Magical Girls” (Mahō Shōjo ni Akogarete) manga is set to premiere in January 2024. Alongside this announcement, the staff revealed a main visual, a primary promotional video, and introduced additional cast members.

The new additions to the cast are as follows:
- Aoi Koga will voice Kiwi Araga / Leopard.
- Shiori Sugiura will voice Korisu Morino / Nero Alice.
- Mayuko Kazama will voice Sayo Minakami / Magia Azul.
- Misaki Ikeda will voice Kaoruko Tenkawa / Magia Sulfur.
The main cast of the anime includes:
- Fūka Izumi as Utena Hiiragi / Magia Baiser.
- Kaori Maeda as Haruka Hanabishi / Magia Magenta.
- Misato Fukuen as Venalita.
Tadato Suzuki, known for directing an episode of the 2019 adaptation of “Fruits Basket,” and Atsushi Ootsuki, recognized for works such as “Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox” and “Motto To Love Ru,” are co-directing the anime at Asahi Production. Noboru Kimura, credited for works like “Gundam Build Divers” and “Skate-Leading Stars,” is in charge of the series scripts. Yasuka Ōtaki, known for their work on “A Galaxy Next Door,” is responsible for character design. Satoshi Motoyama serves as the sound director, while Yasuharu Takanashi, Akinari Suzuki, and Johannes Nilsson are responsible for the music, with music production being handled by Lantis.
The manga is licensed by J-Novel Club, with the following synopsis provided:
“Hi, I’m Hiiragi Utena. I’m a regular middle school girl who loves magical girls—or at least I was until a talking mascot suddenly appeared and put a spell on me! Now, I have the opportunity to join my beloved magical girls, but as… a villain? Wait, something’s wrong with my costume! This can’t be happening!”
