Super Mario Bros. Wonder Players Warm Up to Chatty Flowers

In-game voices find favor among players

Before the release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder last week, we mentioned the option to mute the game’s talking flowers, which raised concerns about the new voiceovers in the classic series. Many players expressed initial skepticism, with comments like “The voices are awful” and a plan to mute them as soon as they start the game.

However, as players delved into the game, it appears that the whimsical chatter of these talking flowers is winning hearts. Even we, here at Nintendo Life, had our reservations at first about voiceovers in a 2D Mario game, but we’ve grown quite fond of these quirky characters.

On social media, we found several positive reactions to the talking flowers. Here are a few notable comments:

  • “Actually liking the voices now”
  • “Love how the flowers in Super Mario Bros. Wonder talk in their game.”
  • “I ended up leaving the voices on, they’re not too bad.”

It seems the majority of players are warming up to these charming characters. We’re curious to hear what you think as well. Please cast your vote in the short poll below and share your thoughts on the talking flowers. Should Nintendo continue this concept in future Mario games?
