Hidemaro Fujibayashi Explains the Disappearance of Sheikah Technology in the Seque

Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the director of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, has provided insights into the absence of Sheikah technology in the sequel, shedding light on the intriguing change from its ubiquity in Breath of the Wild.

The Fate of Sheikah Technology:

  • In Breath of the Wild, players encountered Sheikah technology in various forms, such as towers, weapons, and mechanical enemies. However, in Tears of the Kingdom, this technology has seemingly vanished. Fujibayashi clarifies that the narrative deliberately removed it, turning it into a relic of the past.
  • The disappearance of Sheikah technology is attributed to its role in sealing the Calamity. This mysterious occurrence left the people of Hyrule perplexed, with no one understanding the mechanism behind its vanishing.
  • Hyrule does not consider the absence of Sheikah technology an extraordinary event, as the kingdom frequently experiences enigmatic phenomena. Hyruleans, facing pressing concerns, have made little effort to explore the reasons behind Sheikah technology’s disappearance.

New Challenges in Tears of the Kingdom:

  • Tears of the Kingdom introduces players to various new challenges, including the construction of bomber jets, the creation of Korok torture devices, and the use of Link’s Fuse ability to craft statues with unique abilities.
  • These novel elements have captivated players and shifted their focus from the missing Sheikah technology to the intriguing and creative aspects of the game’s world.
