During a major event, it was officially announced that a second season of the anime has been greenlit. Accompanying this announcement, the original novel’s illustrator, Hanekoto, revealed the teaser visual for the upcoming season.
The light novel series is being published in English by Yen Press, and it’s described as a heartwarming romantic comedy. The story follows Amane, who lives alone in an apartment, and Mahiru, the most beautiful girl in school, who lives next door. Their interactions have been limited until one rainy day when Amane lends her his umbrella, setting off a chain of events that brings them closer together.
The first season of the The Angel Next Door Anime featured the following cast:
- Taito Ban as Amane Fujimiya
- Manaka Iwami as Mahiru Shiina
- Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa
- Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa
The first season’s production team featured Kenichi Imaizumi as the supervisor and Li Hua Wang as the director. Keiichirō Ōchi served as the series scriptwriter, and Takayuki Noguchi adapted Hanekoto’s original character designs for animation. The music, composed by Moe Hyūga, included the opening theme “Gift” performed by Masayoshi Ōishi and the ending theme “Chiisana Koi no Uta” sung by Manaka Iwami.
The first season of the anime premiered on Tokyo MX on January 7th and was also broadcast on BS NTV and AT-X. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired.
The story originally began serialization on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) website in December 2018. It was later adapted into print volumes with illustrations by Hanekoto and a manga adaptation launched on the Manga UP! service in January 2022. Fans can look forward to the continuation of this charming story in the upcoming second season of the anime.
