A perceptive Starfield fan uncovered a way to bypass the United Colonies Vanguard combat exam using the game’s debug tools, highlighting the meticulous attention to detail in Bethesda’s RPG creation. Joining the UC Vanguard involves completing the “Supra Et Ultra” quest, with its final flight combat exam posing a challenge for newcomers.

Reddit user duckduckbananas recently found a workaround by accessing the Simulation Controls console, enabling cheats during the exam. These tools provide advantages such as an allied ship, shield enhancement, and damage boost, aiding in passing the test.
An investment in the Starfield Security skill grants access to override tier limitations on using these bonuses during the exam. Remarkably, duckduckbananas achieved success without even engaging their ship’s engines, showcasing the potency of the in-game cheats, which, notably, incur no penalties as suggested by the officer overseeing the test.
Completing the first three tiers of the combat exam is mandatory for the quest but accomplishing all six tiers rewards players with 20,000 credits from Commander Tuala. This reward holds particular value for low-level characters, making “Supra Et Ultra” an essential early game quest in Starfield.
