In Starfield, obtaining the rare mineral Plutonium (Pu) can be a challenge, especially for novice players. To collect this valuable resource in larger quantities, several methods can be employed.

Building a Plutonium Extractor is an effective approach. On Plutonium-rich planets, place an Outpost Beacon near a Pu vein, then construct an “Extractor – Plutonium” with four Iron, two Tungsten, and four Aluminum. Connect the extractor to a power source for automatic mining.

Players can also purchase Plutonium from resource vendors like the Mining League in major cities for approximately 60 Credits. Additionally, using a Cutter’s laser on Pu rock piles yields a small amount of the resource.
For expedited acquisition, using console commands via the code “player.additem 0000558C [Quantity]” can instantly add Plutonium Ores. However, activating these commands may disable achievements in the current game session.

As Plutonium doesn’t appear on standard planet scans, upgrading the Scanning Skill in the Science tree to Rank 3 is necessary to uncover it.
For efficient farming, Grimsey in the Norion star system is recommended due to its easy accessibility and plentiful Pu deposits. Another lucrative site is planet Porrima IV-D within the same star system. These locations serve as ideal spots for early-game Plutonium mining in Starfield.
