BlizzCon 2023 Breaks Tradition: World of Warcraft Ditches Live Q&A Panel, Opting for Post-Event Video Responses

This year’s BlizzCon will break tradition as World of Warcraft announces the absence of a live Q&A panel for the first time in over 15 years. Usually a highlight of the event, the live Q&A, known for its exciting revelations and lore disclosures, will be replaced by a different format.

Instead, World of Warcraft will enable players to submit questions at BlizzCon and on forums starting November 3. The development team will respond through a post-convention Q&A video, departing from the typical live session. The decision’s exact reasons remain unclarified, but speculations range from avoiding potential controversies, such as past interruptions and geopolitical issues, to ensuring the vetting of questions for potential damage control, notably amidst the evolving landscape after the Microsoft acquisition.

Fans express disappointment and speculate on Blizzard’s apparent hesitance to directly engage with the community, possibly due to significant company changes and concerns over the nature of questions that may be addressed in the video. Despite the absence of a live Q&A, expectations for exciting reveals during BlizzCon 2023 remain high, including new expansions, updates for Classic WoW, and highlights from other games under the Warcraft franchise.
