While the multiple playable characters enhanced gameplay, Miles appears somewhat overshadowed within the game’s central narrative. Both Spider-Men carry forward the growth seen in their individual stories, but Spider-Man 2’s shared plot primarily revolves around Peter, leaving Miles somewhat in the background.
The game delves into friendship, loss, and new challenges. However, Miles feels disconnected from the central conflict, the Symbiote suit issue, which is fundamentally tied to Peter. Miles aids Peter with the Symbiote but lacks a personal link to the main plot, making him seem more like a supportive figure than a co-lead.
Peter deals with the Symbiote’s possession, while Miles grapples with revenge against Mr. Negative. The latter’s internal conflict feels somewhat detached and less central to the narrative. While Miles engages in everyday, small-scale activities, aiding in less significant missions, this dynamic contrasts Peter’s more high-stakes struggles.
Despite providing a different perspective of Spider-Man, Miles could benefit from a more integrated and substantial role in the main storyline in future installments. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 effectively balances the two heroes in various activities but leaves room for improvement in Miles’ involvement in the central conflict.
