Redditor Unveils Vintage, Unopened World of Warcraft Mountain Dew Game Fuel Bottles from 2009 Promotion

A World of Warcraft player, Redditor JackEster97, recently revealed a collection of untouched Mountain Dew Game Fuel bottles from the game’s collaboration with the beverage brand over 14 years ago. During the Wrath of the Lich King era in August 2009, Mountain Dew introduced blue Wild Fruit Alliance and red Citrus Cherry Horde sodas, aligning with the WoW factions. JackEster97 showcased a set of these vintage, unopened bottles, slightly dented from aging, stored in their family’s cabinet since the promotion’s release, reflecting their authentic and pristine state.

The Choose Your Side event, often unfamiliar to newer players, involved a giveaway sweepstakes and an entertaining commercial displaying a CGI battle between an Orc and a Night Elf in a supermarket. JackEster97’s post triggered nostalgic memories among WoW fans, some expressing possession of their own bottles or cans from the collaboration. Several had sold theirs, aware that these sealed cans fetch $20 to $30 each, while bottles can reach over $100 on platforms like eBay.

Interestingly, Mountain Dew Game Fuel is returning with a Halo Infinite and Diablo 4 collaboration, launching new Citrus Cherry and Mystic Punch flavors respectively on November 6. The comeback marks the brand’s first game tie-in since 2017. The potential for future re-releases of World of Warcraft-themed Dew flavors remains uncertain. Even so, the original unopened bottles, like JackEster97’s collection, are likely to retain or increase in value as coveted collector’s items.
