In Patch 10.1.7, Fury Incarnate, World of Warcraft has adjusted the odds of obtaining the elusive Headless Horseman’s Mount. Players now have improved chances during their first daily Headless Horseman encounter and by embracing the Horseman’s “curses” before the battle.

Renowned as Sir Thomas Thomson, the cursed Headless Horseman is a well-known foe in World of Warcraft. Though battling him previously offered exclusive items like rings and the Horseman’s helmet, the ultimate prize for many was The Horseman’s Reins, granting access to the coveted Headless Horseman’s Mount.
In this latest update, players found a transformed encounter with the Headless Horseman, introducing a special “hard mode” option accessible by interacting with specific wickerman statues. By accepting the Horseman’s curses, players face additional challenges, such as avoiding extra area-of-effect spells and defeating more minions during the battle.

Blizzard’s community manager, Kaivax, announced that players who conquer these challenges in their first daily Horseman kill will have heightened odds of securing the Headless Horseman’s Mount from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin reward. While the exact increase remains unspecified, this approach aligns with a similar mechanic used for the X-45 Heartbreaker mount during the Love Is In The Air holiday event.
This adjustment comes ahead of the Guardians of the Dream update’s release on November 7. Although the Horseman’s Reins drop rate remains low, the community eagerly anticipates how this change might impact the ongoing quest of World of Warcraft players chasing after the coveted mount.
