A creative Tears of the Kingdom player introduces a brilliant airplane design that defies crashes and adds to the game’s growing list of inventive fan-made creations.

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one enterprising player has devised a remarkable airplane that seems impervious to crashes. This unique innovation joins the ranks of ingenious creations within the Tears of the Kingdom community, which has been showcasing its inventive prowess since the exclusive Nintendo Switch title’s release in May.

While the typical player might invest up to 80 hours completing Tears of the Kingdom’s primary quest, the fan base has been experimenting with the Ultrahand ability for much longer. The game’s highly adaptable building mechanics have given rise to a myriad of extraordinary contraptions, ranging from mechs and autonomous drones to even Star Wars-inspired aerial vehicles and numerous other imaginative inventions.

The most recent of these groundbreaking designs hails from Reddit user KrisCraig, who has successfully engineered a crash-proof airplane dubbed the “Hylian Explorer.” This 27-Zonaite aircraft consists of a Zonai Steering Stick, four Zonai Fans, two wooden cartwheels, and a pair of guard rails sourced from The Depths, the Tears of the Kingdom Construct Factory dungeon. KrisCraig made use of the game’s lightest components to ensure that the Hylian Explorer remains agile in the air, countering the added weight of the cartwheels, which were unexpectedly heavy.

Key to this new aircraft’s crash-proof design are the two cartwheels positioned on the frontmost pair of Zonai Fans. This configuration allows the airplane to scale everything from gentle slopes to steep cliffs reliably. Even after collisions, the Hylian Explorer retains its crash-proof characteristic, except in cases where it becomes wedged in an alcove. An extended video demonstration shared by KrisCraig on social media showcases the aircraft effortlessly ascending mountains and nimbly traversing the platforms of Hyrule Castle.

Tears of the Kingdom ‘Hylian Explorer’ Components:

  • 1 Zonai Steering Stick
  • 2 guard rails from the Construct Factory Right Leg Depot
  • 4 Zonai Fans
  • 2 wooden cartwheels

In addition to its crash-resistant qualities, the front-mounted wheels also reduce ground friction, aiding the aircraft in generating sufficient speed for takeoff consistently. KrisCraig set the Zonai Fans at a 45-degree upward angle, likely to compensate for the added weight of the wooden wheels, which increases the thrust required for liftoff. This fan angle also limits the airplane’s maximum speed, enhancing its crash-proof nature by preventing high-speed impacts that could complicate scaling terrain. The slight upward angle of the Zonai Fans also enables the Tears of the Kingdom vehicle to maintain mobility even in water.

The Hylian Explorer represents another impressive fan-made creation within the Tears of the Kingdom community, adding to the growing catalog of imaginative and inventive designs. An equally remarkable creation emerged earlier in September, showcasing a Tears of the Kingdom vehicle designed with three steering sticks.
