This announcement follows a previous delay due to the product not meeting manufacturing standards, with defects and damage discovered in early review copies.
As per Wizards’ recent post on the D&D Beyond message board, a new production cycle for The Deck of Many Things has commenced. Players in the US can anticipate receiving their copies on January 5, 2024. However, for those outside the US, specifically in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and APAC (Asia-Pacific) regions, shipments will arrive “a little later” than January. While exact dates remain undisclosed, there is acknowledgment of the potential for production challenges that could lead to further delays in all territories. Additional updates will be provided if such issues arise.
Fortunately, pre-orders for The Deck of Many Things are still open, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to secure their copies. The recent digital release of The Book of Many Things serves as a temporary diversion for those who have pre-ordered. Although the Card Reference Guide and actual tarot cards included in The Deck of Many Things have faced accessibility challenges, it is anticipated that buyers will have them in hand by January, barring unforeseen delays.
For the uninitiated, The Deck of Many Things is a set of physical tarot cards inspired by the game’s magical item of the same name. Originally comprising 22 cards in 1975, Wizards of the Coast has expanded the deck to 66 cards for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, releasing a physical version alongside two hardcover books.
Despite prior production setbacks, The Deck of Many Things is still available for pre-order on the official Dungeons & Dragons store. Interested buyers should be mindful of potential further delays, although the prospect of finally obtaining this highly anticipated product is on the horizon.
