In response to community concerns over the perceived dominance of the Support role, Overwatch 2 recently rolled out substantial balance changes, with a significant focus on Support heroes. High-ranking competitive players expressed dissatisfaction, leading to this overhaul, aiming to rebalance the game’s meta. However, the changes, particularly affecting the fairly new Support hero Lifeweaver, have sparked controversy.

The alterations included a reduction in Lifeweaver’s Healing Blossom ammo and max heal, alongside an increased cooldown for Life Grip. Lifeweaver, introduced in April 2023, had faced criticism upon release but underwent buffs, achieving a balanced state by August. The recent changes, however, are perceived as a step back, diminishing Lifeweaver’s healing capabilities.

While overall Support rebalancing was deemed necessary, the specific targeting of Lifeweaver raises concerns. The hero, initially underpowered, had evolved into a viable and balanced Support, but the recent adjustments have left fans questioning the rationale behind hampering a hero finally in a playable state. Blizzard’s attempt to manage an influx of Support heroes with these changes has stirred disappointment, especially as Lifeweaver appears unfairly impacted compared to other Support counterparts.
