Overwatch 2 has confirmed that the unveiling of its new tank hero will take place at BlizzCon 2023 on November 3. Following the release of three heroes at the game’s launch last year, Overwatch 2 has introduced a new hero every other season, with tank hero Ramattra in Season 2 and support heroes Lifeweaver and Illari in Seasons 4 and 6, respectively. The upcoming hero, confirmed to be a tank, is expected to debut in Season 8 based on the established pattern.
Blizzard’s announcement of the final wave of tickets for BlizzCon included an image outlining the events during the convention. Notably, one box highlighted “Meet the New Hero” with the tank role logo, indicating that Overwatch 2 will reveal the new tank hero at BlizzCon. Speculation about the identity of the hero includes Yuna, a fellow MEKA pilot with a sword and shield-wielding mech, and Mauga, the towering former partner to Baptiste. The presence of bullet holes in the background could suggest Mauga, known for using a large assault weapon.
BlizzCon will also feature the Overwatch World Cup, where skilled teams will compete, marking the first champions of the Overwatch 2 era. The convention will showcase exciting events for other Blizzard titles, such as Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Diablo 4.
