Almost two weeks after entering beta, the Starfield DLSS update, labeled as version 1.8.86 on Steam, is now accessible to all players. Beyond enhancing performance, this update introduces a peculiar feature: the ability to consume food from any surface.
While the act of eating directly off the ground may not be a common practice since toddlerhood, space seems to allow for such behaviors without judgment. Unless, of course, you have one of those complaining Constellation companions accompanying you in your space adventures. But then again, complaining seems to be their specialty.
Key Features of Update 1.8.86:

The highlight of update 1.8.86 is the integration of Nvidia’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) into Starfield. Since its launch in September, the absence of this beneficial technology led PC players to tinker with settings to optimize the game’s performance on their systems. The update introduces DLSS support alongside DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing), Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, and DLSS frame generation.
Additionally, players now have the amusing ability to consume any food item found in the game environment. Whether it’s 76 Chunks Beef or alien tea accidentally stepped on during a fierce battle with space pirates, you can now savor these culinary delights. While the nutritional satisfaction may be questionable, it adds a touch of whimsy to the space RPG.
The update encompasses various other changes, including bug fixes. Notably, a bug related to the ‘Eye of the Storm’ mission appears to be resolved, and the game has received visual enhancements.
However, the question remains whether these updates will rekindle player interest. Starfield experienced a significant decline in popularity, briefly having fewer players than Skyrim from 2011. The Steam score has also dipped, currently holding a ‘Mixed’ rating. The impact of a more optimized Starfield on its overall performance and player reception remains to be seen.
