BlizzCon 2023 brought significant revelations for Overwatch 2, unveiling the new Tank hero, Mauga, along with the Clash PvP game mode and plans for 2024. Despite a leak prior to the event, fans gained their first in-game glimpse of Mauga’s abilities, which will be available for a free trial until November 5, preceding his permanent addition to the Overwatch 2 roster in Season 8 on December 5.
Looking ahead to 2024, Overwatch 2 promises a new Clash game mode featuring five points in a row, with the revamped Hanamura map called Hanaoka serving as the inaugural Clash battleground. Additionally, a reworked Competitive mode with fresh rewards is on the horizon, along with seasonal themes inspired by Eldritch horror, Egyptian mythology, witches, and a mirror universe where heroes and villains switch roles.

Further exciting developments include the introduction of two new heroes in 2024: a Damage hero named Venture in Season 10 and a Support hero codenamed Space Ranger in Season 12. Three heroes in total are slated for the year, contributing to Blizzard’s commitment to substantial updates and improvements, with Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller hinting at the breadth of content yet to be unveiled.
