A recently unveiled artwork from the upcoming book Overwatch: Declassified provides Overwatch 2 enthusiasts with a unique glimpse into Genji’s history, shedding light on the aftermath of his near-fatal encounter with his brother Hanzo. Genji, a beloved hero known for his cybernetic enhancements and swift gameplay, has been a staple in the Overwatch universe since its inception.

The artwork showcases Genji’s appearance shortly after Hanzo’s attack, offering fans a visual representation of the severe injuries that led to his cybernetic transformation. Dr. Ziegler, also known as Mercy, is depicted tending to Genji’s restoration, revealing the intricate details of his cybernetic prosthetics. The image resonated across social media platforms, sparking discussions within the Overwatch 2 community.

Genji’s backstory involves a tumultuous relationship with his brother, Hanzo, who attempted to kill him, leaving Genji on the brink of death. The artwork aligns with the established lore, hinting at the severity of the injuries inflicted by a sword, consistent with in-game voice lines and narrative elements.

Overwatch: Declassified, set to release on November 7, promises to dive deeper into the lore and history of the Overwatch universe, providing fans with additional context and rich narratives.
