Super Mario RPG’s ver. 1.0.1 update, released on December 12, 2023, delivers significant improvements to the beloved classic RPG. The update addresses various game progression hiccups and aims to enhance the overall gameplay experience for players.
Initially launched on November 17, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch, the Super Mario RPG remake brought a nostalgic trip into modern times with updated 3D graphics. However, a few glitches disrupted the otherwise seamless journey for Mario fans. The latest update aims to resolve these issues and maintain the game’s enjoyment for enthusiasts.
The primary focus of this update is rectifying game progression issues that caused roadblocks during players’ quests in Super Mario RPG. Instances such as the absence of Paratroopas in Land’s End after the Monstro Town event or the occasional restart after Mushroom Kingdom battles have been fixed. Glitches in Marrymore events, Sunken Ship, and Land’s End have also been resolved, ensuring smoother gameplay.
Furthermore, the update addresses quirks in the Thought Peek feature and issues in Bowser’s Keep, particularly a section with six doors that occasionally caused entry problems into doors five and six. Players encountering these issues can resolve them by exiting and re-entering the section.
The Super Mario RPG remake not only updates the classic’s graphical standards but also introduces new battle mechanics. Perfectly executed action commands now damage all enemies. Moreover, some character names have been adjusted to align with modern conventions, such as Princess Toadstool becoming Princess Peach. Players can also switch between the original music and a new orchestration by the original composer, Yoko Shimomura.
