The Palworld Effigy bug specifically impacts the capture rates when players submit Lifmunk Effigies at Statues of Power. Contrary to expectations, this bug reduces capture rates instead of improving them. Players typically focus on various methods to enhance their capture rates, such as leveling up their characters, acquiring better spheres, and turning in Lifmunk Effigies at the Statues of Power. Unfortunately, the bug undermines this effort.
A YouTuber conducted an experiment to test the impact of Lifmunk Effigy upgrades on capture rates. The results revealed a significant disparity, with a 37% capture rate for maxed-out Effigies compared to a 53% capture rate for zero upgrades. This discrepancy is noteworthy, and several players on Reddit have also reported encountering the bug. A statistical analysis conducted by a Reddit user further supports the existence of this issue.
Developer Response and Fixes
In response to the bug, the developers of Palworld, PocketPair, released patch v0.1.4.0, addressing the problem under the ‘Player Issues’ category. The patch specifically mentions fixing an issue where the capture power strengthened by Lifmunk Effigies was reset when using memory reset drugs. However, players had previously discovered a workaround using the Memory Wiping Machine to reset Effigies and maintain a higher capture rate. Unfortunately, the latest patch closed this loophole, and players persist in experiencing the bug.
