Viz Media announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Shu Sakuratani’s “Rooster Fighter” (Niwatori Fighter) manga is being adapted into an anime in collaboration with Hero’s Inc. Viz will handle the anime’s worldwide streaming, TV broadcast, electronic sell-through (EST), home video, and merchandising outside Japan. In Japan, Hero’s Inc. will manage EST, home video, and merchandising. The anime will air on Adult Swim, with more streaming partners to be announced later.

The anime is directed by Daisuke Suzuki (D4DJ All Mix) at SANZIGEN, with Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100) handling series composition. Joseph Chou (Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya) and Sola Entertainment are producing the anime.
Viz describes the story as follows:
“Keiji is more than just an ordinary rooster—he’s humanity’s greatest defender! His opponents may be ten stories tall, but nothing is bigger than his stout heart and his fearsome battle cry—Kokekokko!”
Viz has licensed the manga and published the fifth volume in English in December. The manga debuted on the Comiplex website in December 2020, and Hero’s Inc. released the seventh volume on January 29.
