The highly anticipated Medalist TV anime series, set to premiere in Japan in January 2025, has just released its latest promotional trailer. The new trailer not only offers a glimpse of the upcoming series but also introduces five additional cast members. These include Makoto Koichi as Rioh Sonidori, Hina Kino as Ryoka Miketa, Megumi Toda as Mario Nachi, Kotori Koiwai as Ema Yamato, and Takahiro Miyake as Yudai Jakuzure. They will join the main voice cast, which features Natsumi Haruse as Inori Yuitsuka, Takeo Otsuka as Tsukasa Akeuraji, Kana Ichinose as Hikaru Kamisaki, and Yuma Uchida as Jun Yodaka.
A new visual featuring the skating pair Ryoka Miketa and Mario Nachi has also been revealed. The series is being directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto (The Tale of the Outcasts, Nekopara) with Jukki Hanada (The Dangers in My Heart) as the series screenwriter. Character design and co-chief animation direction are by Chinatsu Kameyama (In Another World With My Smartphone 2), with music composed by Yuuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Arknights: Perish in Frost) and 3DCG animation supervision by Shotaro Hori (KamiErabi GOD.app). ENGI is responsible for the animation production.
Based on Tsurumaikada’s sports manga, serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since May 2020, the series has already garnered critical acclaim, winning the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2022 award and the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award. The English version is released by Kodansha USA, centering on Tsukasa and Inori, who pursue their shared dream of reaching the world stage in figure skating.
